Sugar Creek Park was donated to the Park District in 1988 and developed in 1999. The final design was approved by Sugar Creek residents prior to development. Although Sugar Creek has a playground, much of the park remains heavily wooded or left in its natural state. A footbridge connects the park to Sullivan Woods. In 2021, a new Fitcore Extreme Course playground was installed with components seen on Ninja Warrior ^TM. The playground has a poured in place surface.
